While they were in Zambia in the area around the village of Mfuwe in Eastern Province on three different occasions, Johnny and Grant received many requests for help and sponsorship from youngsters in desperate need of funding to advance their education. These requests have come from children, from children's parents, and from young adults - usually at the beginnings of their career - who need help to get any further with their lives. If you feel able to help any of these people, then we will gladly take on the responsibility of ensuring that the funds get to those involved.
Sponsorship of those listed below would be made on an individual basis.
There is an urgent need for sponsorship, especially of promising school children in the area around Mfuwe in Eastern Province in Zambia. The shattering effect that AIDS and HIV has had on the local population is devastating. There are many, many cases of one young adult or a young man and his wife having from 10 to 20 children dependent upon them because their sister, brother, nephew, niece or other close relative has died of HIV infection. Usually there is no means for these children to finance their schooling without assistance from outside their immediate family. Before putting any of those people listed below up for sponsorship, I have checked with the Headmaster of their school that they they are both promising students and are in need of financial help. Each student is also checked individually to make sure that they are not receiving double funding from one of the safari camps in the area or one of the other volunteer sponsorship organisations.
