The renovation of the Ablution Block was an 'extra' not originally envisaged in the initial plan.  The problem about using the ablution block at the back of the MCH Building as had been done previously is that it gave no privacy to the women and maternity patients and was among the most important reason for driving the pregnant mothers away from using the facilities provided by the MCH Building.  There were no other toilet facilities so it was decided to 'add on' the Ablution Block at the rear of the building to the overall scheme and to hope that the necessary finances could be found to fund the costs.  Hence all work and supplies on the Ablution Block was funded separately from the Main Building and MCH Building.  Grant therefore became the foreman of the Ablution Block Project, bought the supplies, did the hiring and firing and supervised the day-to-day work on the building the pavements out to it from the main building and the 'black tank' water heater for the showers.
