There were olive terraces all along the NW side of Mallorca, sometimes going high up into the mountains.  What an industrious people to go to the trouble of piling up all these stones, moving the earth, planting and tending the trees, harvesting the olives, carrying them down to be pressed, etc.  Whew!  It makes me tired just to think about it.

Anyway, they've been doing it for 5,000 years - so it all didn't just happen yesterday!
