This shows the Cairngorm Mountains to the South of Kingussie.  The Lairigh Ghru (Lairigh = pass in Gaelic; the meaning of Ghru or Dhru is uncertain)

 is right in the middle of the photograph.  It is a major pass traversing the whole of the Cairngorm Range that ends further South in Deeside on the Mar Lodge Estate.

It is one of the Great Passes in Scotland and is the scene of a gruelling race every summer.
