The initial hole marked out in the soundboard at the beginning of the marking out process can be seen here between the two bridge-positioning pins. The distance of the left-hand pin to the hole in the soundboard is less than the corresponding distance to the right-hand pin. This is determined by the bridge positioning-pin jig seen in the section on marking the position of the bridge.
The textured surface of the soundboard, caused by the final soundboard thickness with a furniture scraper, is quite clearly seen here in the grazing light.
