Marking out of the baseboard and bridges

The lateral string spacing stick is being used here to mark out the bridge-pin positions after the bridge has been glued onto the soundboard.  A bar which positions the stick and keeps it at a right angle to to the spine edge of the soundboard is slid along the spine edge. When the apex of each of the notches in the lateral-spacing bar coincides with the back edge of the bridge moulding, a mark is made to locate the bridge pin at that point.

All of the long bridge pins are marked out first and then the lateral string-spacing stick is moved 1 decimo (2.18mm) toward the bass in the positioning bar (seen here at the left) and the short string bridge-pin positions are marked out.
