This shows the treble side of one of the instruments just after the lower strip of chestnut has been glued and nailed in place. Because this part is hidden behind the lower outside moulding the joins in this strip were not mitred at their ends. Instead simple overlapping joins were made. The front of the case has the same lower outer case moulding as the rest of the case and this was mitred and glued to the front in the same way as the rest of the pieces of lower outer case moulding.
