The condition of the Kakumbi Clinic and its roof / Ward 1 |
The men's ward in the main clinic building. This photograph was taken while we were replacing the old lighting fixtures and before the Edinburgh pulleys were put in for the mosquito nets. While we were putting up the new light fixtures it became clear that the interiors of all of the ceiling beams were totally eaten away by termites. Little more than hope is now holding the roof in place as the widely-spaced ceiling beams have little remaining strength!
This part of the clinic has no ceilings and no insulation so the heat in this ward and the consulting rooms at mid-day is overwhelming.
