Funding by the Zambian National Aids Network (ZNAN) |
Having first made application to ZNAN back in March, 2007, on June 12 (my birthday!) we received news from Mrs Elizabeth Mataka of the Zambian National Aids Network that we had been awarded a grant of Kwacha 152,506,325 (about US$39,000 or £17,300). We could simply not believe our good fortune.
On Monday June 18 I went into Lusaka a day earlier than planned and met Mr Barnabas Ciboboka of ZNAN and signed the necessary documents to enable the money to be transferred into an account which has now been set up at the Zambian National Commercial Bank at their branch at Mfuwe Airport. This new funding totally obliterates the financial cloud which has been hanging over the project and will now allow us to carry out some additional work and to supply the Clinic with some new equipment (beds, bedside tables, chairs, etc.) which would otherwise have been impossible.
Our sincere and grateful thanks goes out to ZNAN and in particular to Mrs Mataka for enabling us to obtain this additional funding.
