Making the measuring and marking-out sticks
The lateral spacing of the bridge and nut pins pins from the spine was marked out using a stick with cut notches giving the correct position of each bridge and nut pin. This same stick was used to position the f notes, firstly on the baseboard plan which was used to determine the bridge position and then to determine the bentside shape and position, and then the soundboard was placed on the baseboard and the position of the f notes was then marked on the soundboard in order to give the correct position of the bridges on the soundboard.
