Stringing the 'French' Ruckers aligned double-manual harpsichord
Graph template to use to determine your own string-material transition scalings
Print out this graph, plot the lengths of the strings on your own instrument on it, and use this to determine where the material transitions should occur:
The line demarcating the red-brass-to-yellow-brass transition scalings was drawn based on a transition scaling with a c2-equivalent scaling of 8½ duimen = 216.6mm, and for the yellow-brass-to-iron transition scaling the line was drawn for a c2-equivalent scaling of 11½ duimen = 293.0mm. The points at which the straight lines for these two lines cross the string scaling curves determine the notes between which the material transitions should occur.
Please remember that in the graph above the 4' scalings need to be plotted one octave higher than the 8' scalings.
